Our History

The concept for Students Real Friends Network was born from the many years of rich experience as a parent leader serving on the City, State and National level.

We have learned that it takes a Nation to help raise and educate a child. It is the role of each community/village to make sure that each student’s needs are being properly accesssed and communicated so that the funding and resources are being used strategically and effectively to educate well-rounded students with the knowledge, skills and ability to compete and lead our communities/village in this changing global economy.

The good news is that the structures to achieve our united goal is already in place.

Our mission is to provide consistent community support to students by providing supplemental training, mentoring and resources to parent leaders and parents. In addition, we have a Community Volunteer 1 committee to help support activities and events sponsored by youth development organizations in the community.

To date, we hosted fundraisers like our 1st Annual Winter Benefit Concert and Theater Party at the Black Spectrum Theater. The proceeds were used to help host a scholarship workshop by Pamela Johnson (The Scholarship Lady), provide S.A.T. workshops for High School Students and writing workshops for public school K-8 students. We made monetary donations and provided volunteer support for the Annual Halloween Family Fest and Tree Lighting Ceremony hosted by the Friends of Brookville Park and made a donation to support the Rosedale Jets in their effort to provide championship jackets for students.

Students Real Friends is the proud sponsors of the Queens 4-H Youth Development Club. The club has completed service projects to help make our local parks and neighborhood beautiful and are supporting our troops by sending them pictures and letting them know how much they appreciate their service to our country. More exciting projects for the club to come.    Stay tuned.

Our goals for 2014 include launching our 1st Annual School Leadership Teams Matters Campaign 2013-2014, advocacy campaigns to support our local K-12 public schools, increasing our support to fellow youth development organizations and hosting our 2nd Annual Fabulous Friends celebration in May 2014.
